Non GMO-Products are trending globally despite strong regulatory restrictions in EU markets on the use of genetically modified ingredients. Average annual growth of 30 percent has been reported globally for Non-GMO claims. The trend has been particularly prevalent in the snacks area where consumer concerns exist around the use of GM corn. In fact, in 2017, almost 12 percent of all global new non-GMO marketed launches were in the snacks category.
