International Food Fairs “made by Koelnmesse”
Anuga – Every two years the world’s largest food and beverage fair brings together approximately 6,500 suppliers from about 100 countries under one roof in Cologne and presents a comprehensive international spectrum of products for the trade and the food service and catering market.
The International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM) takes place once a year in Cologne, in late January/early February. The trade fair itself is an offshoot of Anuga, and since its debut in 1971 it has become established as the undisputed leading trade fair serving the international confectionery industry.
Italian food products and drinks will be the sole focus of the new food fair Gusto Italia from 24th to 26th June 2012 in Cologne. At Gusto Italia, buyers from the food trade and system catering sector, proprietors of delicatessen shops, caterers, importers and wholesalers will gain a comprehensive overview of the wide variety, outstanding quality and unmistakeable characteristics of the popular products from Italy’s kitchens and wine cellars. Gusto Italia is intended to appeal to trade visitors from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Benelux countries.
A small but very concentrated trade fair, and one that is precisely aligned with its target group, is Eu’Vend, which serves the growing market for products sold through vending machines. This fair also is held every two years. It will be presented together with the coffee trade fair coffeena, which will complement it perfectly.
Anuga FoodTec, the international trade fair for food and drink technology, Anuga FoodTec is the world's only specialist trade fair whose multi-sector approach covers all aspects of processing, packaging, hygiene, storage and distribution in food and beverage production.
ProSweets Cologne, the supplier trade fair for the confectionery industry, has also developed in an outstanding manner. It has been taking place since 2006 in parallel to ISM and offers the exhibitors and visitors of both trade fairs optimal synergy effects by presenting technologies for the production, packaging, storage and distribution of confectionery and snack items.
Among the international activities of Koelnmesse Thaifex – World of Food Asia in Bangkok is to be mentioned first, a very successful trade fair that has evolved into the main trade platform in Southeast Asia, with roughly 1,000 suppliers. Thaifex – World of Food Asia made its debut in 2004. World of Halal is a new professional trade fair to serve the needs of the halal industry – providing a business platform for trade, networking and education, parallel to Thaifex.
In China Koelnmesse stages Sweets & Snacks China and International Sweet & SnackTec China. These trade fairs are also based on the successful Cologne trade fair concepts but are specially designed for the needs of the Chinese market and are realized in cooperation with local organizations. And taking place in Macao is Wine & Gourmet Asia, a special trade fair for the catering and hospitality sector.
In Tokyo Koelnmesse has initiated a corresponding fair, Wine & Gourmet Japan.
In Dubai Koelnmesse is represented by Sweets & Snacks Middle East in combination with Sweet & SnackTec Middle East. Here too, in the countries of the MENA region, the fairs are reaching a very promising growth market. As the Chinese twin shows the Dubai shows are modelled after the Cologne trade fair conception of ISM and ProSweets Cologne.
India, of course, is another very important cornerstone of Koelnmesse’s business activities. It hosts not only Annapoorna – World of Food India and International FoodService India, but also a trade fair quartet focussing on food & drinks technology. Build up on four pillars - processing and packaging, food ingredients, beverage technologies, cooling and refrigeration - the complete range of industry requirements will be displayed. The event incorporates International FoodTec India, Dairy Universe, Sweet & SnackTec India and INDIAPACK and took place successfully in October 2010 in Mumbai.
