The Corona crisis has made many people more self-referential. They no longer think in global dimensions, but are very strongly related to their immediate sphere of influence. Sustainability is increasingly threatening to become a self-referential value with a regional focus that wants to preserve its own world as it is at the moment. But sustainability without a global dimension, without a belief in a better and fairer world, and without altruism is not sustainable. In this situation, Fairtrade has the chance to become a pioneer of a global sustainability 2.0. Because fair trade is and remains Fairtrade's core competence and mission. A mission that creates the resources for global climate protection among the trading partners.
