Pfanner: 10% increase in sales & focus on sustainability

Despite turbulent times, fruit juice and iced tea producer Pfanner looks back on a successful business year 2022. Due to the positive development in the main sales markets of Germany, Italy and Southern/Eastern Europe, the highest sales in the company's history were achieved with 362 million euros and a plus of 10% (2021: 329 million euros). The Vorarlberg-based family business, which operates in over 80 countries, thus remains a guarantor of continuity and stability even in a volatile environment. The company is confident that it will continue to develop positively in the current year, with further growth to be secured in the long term through investments at the company's locations.
Characterized by supply chain problems, immense cost increases, and the Ukraine war, the company can look back on a challenging year worldwide. Despite the difficult circumstances, beverage manufacturer Pfanner is satisfied with its corporate development. "The fact that a sales high of 362 million euros was achieved in the past year is due in particular to the commitment of our employees at home and abroad," says Peter Pfanner, explaining the record sales, which were strongly driven by volume growth. The impact of the hot summer on sales was felt directly: "Thanks to the energetic commitment of our employees, we succeeded in achieving this growth.
The 10% increase in sales was achieved primarily thanks to very positive developments in the sales markets of Germany, Italy and Southern/Eastern Europe. For example, the brilliant launch of the limited edition iced tea watermelon, the strongest new launch in the company's history, generated enthusiasm in the core market of Germany. In the Italian market, on the other hand, the positive response to the Senza Zuccheri line, a range of fruit juices with 50% and 60% fruit content, to which no additional sugar is added, is particularly noteworthy. In the Eastern European markets, we were again pleased with the successful launch of the Vitamin range, a multi-fruit juice concept with fortified vitamins and minerals.

Sustainability as a key pillar of corporate culture
"As a family business, we ourselves think in terms of generations, so sustainability and the responsible use of resources are very important to us," says Pfanner, underlining its values. Numerous projects have already been implemented in this regard in recent years, and this path is to be continued. For example, the company obtains electricity exclusively from hydropower. Furthermore, the modernization of the company's site in Lauterach is constantly being driven forward, among other things by means of investments to increase the proportion of reusable packaging and to reduce wastewater emissions.
Furthermore, in the first quarter of this year, Pfanner will start implementing the EU directive for fixed closures on the packaging market, which will come into force in July 2024.
