Now in its 69th year, Daesang stands as one of Korea’s leading food companies, founded entirely with domestic capital and built on world-class fermentation technology. Best known for its flagship brands Chungjungone and Jongga, Daesang has expanded its reach from general food into biotechnology, starch sugars, and beyond, shaping food culture not only in Korea but around the world. The company’s steady growth is reflected in its revenue, which rose from ₩2.16 trillion in 2011 to ₩4.26 trillion in 2024.
Daesang has long recognized the importance of global markets. Since establishing its first overseas plant to Indonesia in 1973, the company has steadily expanded its international presence, building subsidiaries in the United States, China, Japan, Europe, Oceania, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Hong Kong.
Focusing on four core global categories—kimchi, seaweed, sauces, and ready meals—Daesang is targeting 30% annual growth through 2025. Its strategy blends product localization with immersive brand experiences, helping fuel the worldwide spread of K-Food.
At the heart of this expansion is the Jongga brand of kimchi. In 2022, Daesang became the first Korean food company to open a large-scale kimchi production facility in Los Angeles, now fully operational. In June 2024, the company added a second plant in Hung Yen, Vietnam to further scale production. Looking ahead, Daesang plans to open a new kimchi plant in Poland by 2026, deepening its push into the European market. Meanwhile, through its global brand O’Food, Daesang is introducing iconic Korean street foods such as tteokbokki and gimbap to global audiences, expanding K-Food’s reach into mainstream consumer channels.
In Europe, the company is accelerating growth by securing product placement in major retail and distribution networks across the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden. It is also enhancing consumer engagement through initiatives such as social media storytelling, global kimchi cooking contests, and pop-up stores in key markets.
