As CEO of Sewha Seafood Co., Ltd., he spearheaded the expansion of seaweed exports by developing patented technologies for seasoned seaweed and seaweed snacks, launching new brands, and winning the Gold Award at the Seafood Export Brand Competition.
Since assuming the presidency of the Korea Seafood Trade Association in 2010, CEO Bae Ki-il has contributed to achieving the first-ever 1 trillion won in seaweed exports in 2023 and reaching 3 billion dollars in seafood exports for two consecutive years through initiatives like seaweed export bidding and consultation meetings and overseas market development projects.
He strengthened the position of Korean seaweed by mandating HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) certification for seasoning seaweed processing facilities of participating companies in bidding and consultation meetings, and by holding these events in person in Japan. Furthermore, he actively pursued improving seaweed quality by supporting 312 companies nationwide with 718 units of the latest processing equipment through the processing facility support project. Since 2012, it has hosted the Busan International Fisheries Expo, attracting participants from 22 countries, to support securing the competitiveness of Korean seafood exports and entering overseas markets.
