Halal certified foods, which are foods that are permitted to be consumed following the Islamic dietary laws, are gaining more traction. Rising demands for convenience foods that meet halal standards are emerging in Middle Eastern markets and coupled with a growing need for these products in the West. It has led to strong growth in halal-certified foods. Halal food launches witnessed a + 17.7% average annual growth globally.
In 2019, 68.1% of halal food launches were reported in Asia, where the largest share of the world’s Muslim population lives. Africa and the Middle East also represent an important market for halal foods.
