Sustainability has many facets. What is essential is that the different dimensions, social, ecological, economic, and as a fourth dimension, nutritional value, are often in competition with one another. They must be carefully balanced, and the consequences of our actions weighed so that all dimensions are considered. This is the major challenge and it makes corresponding certification systems especially complex.
For our company, sustainable business is first and foremost a matter of mindset and entrepreneurship and only in the second instance a matter of certification.
The same applies to ecological concerns. For us, organic is the best way to operate sustainably. Circular thinking is deeply rooted in our approach, and complex thinking is required - from the field to the customer. We ask ourselves: How do we design our processes? And how do we take into account the effects on the economy, ecology, and social aspects?
As a manufacturer, we bear particular responsibility. On the one hand, we must collaborate with our agricultural partners in a way that respects and sustains the soil and the planet.
On the other hand, we have the opportunity to actively shape the consumer side - so that product ranges and developments evolve in line with the interests of our customers.
At Bio Breadness, doing the right thing always comes first. We want to bake the best bread - and that is often a matter of process. For us, this means: stone ovens, naturally matured sourdough with long fermentation times, and a love for detail.
Sustainable thinking also means long-term commitment:
• Contracts with partners that enable development at upstream stages
• Ideally, long-term agreements with our customers that ensure fair cooperation across the entire value chain
Our vision is one of sustainable business throughout the entire supply chain.
