Our Puy Lentil is the only lentil having DOP certification. It can only be cultivated in Haute Loire, in center of France, in the heart of our region where our company SABAROT is based.
The volcanic soil & particular climate of our region give the lentils all their great properties. Puy lentils meet strict specifications for the DOP certification. Farmers work according to sustainable agriculture. The use of fertilizers and irrigation are forbidden.
The marbling of our DOP lentil is dark green. It stays firm when cooked and keeps the perfect texture to use either in a salad or warm with meat or fish.
It suits well the vegetarian diet with its high content in plant-based proteins. Puy Lentils are also a great provider of micronutrients (particularly iron) and minerals.
It is our flag product, well known by the Chefs and Food Lovers all over the world.
