The majority of the road closures will be in place from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, 5 October 2025.
Anuga coincides with the Cologne Marathon
In October 2025, two major events will take place simultaneously in Cologne: the leading international trade fair Anuga (4 to 8 October 2025) and the Cologne Marathon (5 October 2025).
We are aware of the logistical challenges presented by this overlap and have been working with the City of Cologne, the organisers of the marathon, transport and safety authorities and other partners to develop comprehensive plans in good time. As always, our aim is to make sure that Anuga runs smoothly and professionally and is an enjoyable experience for all participants.

Cologne Marathon on 5 October – travel disruptions possible

Route fo Cologne Marathon 2025
We are currently working with the relevant authorities to develop detailed plans for traffic management, logistics and visitor guidance to ensure that Anuga runs smoothly despite this other major event taking place at the same time. We will share this information with you in due course.
Owing to this year’s marathon route, extensive road closures are anticipated, particularly in the Deutz district of Cologne. The first restrictions will come into force at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, 4 October, primarily on Opladener Straße.
Road traffic may be significantly affected as a result.
However, taxis will still be able to reach the railway station after 8:00 p.m., so passengers will still be able to get to and from the station for the most part.
Motorists, on the other hand, can expect significant delays and should switch to public transport, if possible, or allow plenty of time for their journey.
In addition to the general traffic restrictions, many roads along the marathon route will be completely closed. The closures will affect not only the Deutz area of the city, but also other central districts that the runners will pass through. To make it easier for you to check the exact route and the roads affected, we have made the official route map available to download from our website.
You can find detailed information on our website about which areas will be closed to traffic and when, as well as the planned diversions.
