About Sonia Petzold
Sonia Petzold is an experienced sustainability and biodiversity professional with more than 15 years in the food industry. Since 2021 she has been Project Manager at Food for Biodiversity, a German multi-stakeholder association, coordinating the EU LIFE project on biodiversity in the food sector, developing criteria for biodiversity, and engaging companies and stakeholders to strengthen sustainable value chains. Previously, she was Sustainability Manager at Stokke, where she built the company’s ESG strategy, advanced carbon reduction and supply chain transparency, and led sustainability reporting. At Nestlé she held several managerial roles, from Product Technology Centers in Germany to regional headquarters in Dubai, driving innovation, regenerative agriculture, emissions reduction, and lifecycle assessments. She holds a Master’s in Food Science and combines strategic leadership with hands-on project execution to build resilient, biodiversity-friendly food systems.
