Anuga supports Tafel Köln e. V.: New refrigerated truck enables larger quantities of food to be collected
Official handover of the vehicle took place together with all sponsors at the Cologne Tafel site
Anuga, the world's leading trade fair for food and beverages, has joined 24 other sponsors in supporting Tafel Köln with the purchase of a new (deep-freeze) refrigerated vehicle. The 7.5-tonne truck will enable the non-profit organisation to collect larger quantities of food from now on and thus provide better support to people in need. Instead of the previous maximum capacity of 4-euro pallets of the transporters in the existing vehicle fleet, the Kölner Tafel can now pick up - depending on the weight - up to 12-euro pallets at once. The vehicle will also be on the road beyond Cologne in NRW as part of the Tafel Köln's distribution function."Anuga has supported the Cologne food bank for many years. Every two years, the food and beverages that are exhibited at the fair and not transported back to their respective home towns are made available to the association for collection. With the new larger vehicle, significantly more quantities can be collected in one go and, in terms of sustainability, an important contribution can be made to the issue of foodwaste", explains Stefanie Mauritz, Director Anuga.
Karin Fürhaupter, Chairwoman of Tafel Köln e. V., adds: "Since 1995, we have seen our task as collecting surplus food that is still in perfect condition and would otherwise be thrown away and distributing it to people in need, in line with our motto: "Distribute instead of destroy!" Over the years, the demands on our work have naturally grown. More and more citizens are making use of the help of Tafel Köln. The larger refrigerated vehicle makes our work much easier when collecting larger quantities directly from the manufacturer, the supplier or, for example, at trade fairs. Multiple trips with our smaller vans are also unnecessary, which is an additional contribution to environmental protection."

Anuga unterstützt Tafel Köln e. V.: Neues (Tief-)Kühlfahrzeug ermöglicht Abholung größerer Mengen an Lebensmitteln
Offizielle Fahrzeugübergabe erfolgte gemeinsam mit allen Sponsoren am Standort der Kölner Tafel
Die Weltleitmesse für Lebensmittel und Getränke Anuga unterstützt die Kölner Tafel neben 24 anderen Sponsoren bei der Anschaffung eines neuen (Tief-)Kühlfahrzeugs. Der 7,5-Tonner ermöglicht der gemeinnützigen Organisation von nun an größere Mengen an Lebensmitteln abzuholen und damit Menschen in Not eine bessere Unterstützung zu gewährleisten. Anstelle der bisherigen maximalen Kapazität von 4-Euro-Paletten der Transporter im vorhandenen Fahrzeugpark kann die Kölner Tafel nun - je nach Gewicht - bis zu 12-Euro-Paletten auf einmal abholen. Das Fahrzeug wird im Rahmen der Verteiltafel-Funktion der Tafel Köln auch über Köln hinaus in NRW unterwegs sein.„Die Anuga unterstützt seit vielen Jahren die Kölner Tafel. Alle zwei Jahre werden die Lebensmittel und Getränke, die auf der Messe ausgestellt und nicht mehr zum jeweiligen Heimatort zurücktransportiert werden, dem Verein zur Abholung zur Verfügung gestellt. Mit dem neuen größeren Fahrzeug können deutlich mehr Mengen in einem abgeholt und im Sinne der Nachhaltigkeit ein wichtiger Beitrag beim Thema Foodwaste geleistet werden“, erklärt Stefanie Mauritz, Director Anuga.
Karin Fürhaupter, Vorsitzende des Tafel Köln e. V. ergänzt: „Seit 1995 sehen wir unsere Aufgabe darin, überschüssige Lebensmittel, die noch in einwandfreiem Zustand sind und sonst weggeworfen würden, einzusammeln und an Menschen in Not zu verteilen, ganz gemäß unserer Devise: „Verteilen statt vernichten!“ Mit den Jahren sind natürlich auch die Anforderungen an unsere Arbeit größer geworden. Immer mehr Bürgerinnen und Bürger nehmen die Hilfe der Tafel Köln in Anspruch. Zur Abholung größerer Mengen, direkt beim Hersteller, beim Lieferanten oder z. B. bei Messen erleichtert das größere Kühlfahrzeug unsere Arbeit erheblich. Auch Mehrfachfahrten mit unseren kleineren Transportern erübrigen sich, womit wir zusätzlich zum Umweltschutz beitragen.“
