Kejriwal Bee Care India (P) Ltd. certified as world’s first TSH Certified Honey Exporter

The honey industry having witnessed several questionable personal views on quality, handling and traceability of Indian Honey, Intertek, exclusive global partner for True Source Honey™, has launched the True Source Honey (TSH) Certified program in India. It is a global initiative to certify the whole chain traceability and sustainability of ethically sourced, fairly traded honey. Honey is one of the few remaining food products that are considered natural (or without added ingredients or other refined additives that alter the composition of the product). In an effort to protect the product, True Source Honey will work with honey companies in the countries of origin and U.S. importers to set a global standard for high-quality honey. Intertek will play an integral part in helping to set this standard, by handling all of the traceability audits and inspecting the containers of honey imported into the U.S. as registered under the True Source Honey initiative. The launch was attended by several Government Dignitaries, Diplomats and Important Industry personalities. Chairman of Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) S Dave was present as the Guest of Honor and the function was presided over by Ashok Sinha, former Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Intertek is a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, providing audit, inspection, testing, and quality assurance and certification options. Intertek has a network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices and 30,000 people in over 100 countries around the world. Rajesh Saigal, Managing Director, Intertek India said "we are very pleased that True Source Honey chose our expertise. We look forward to applying our skill to ensure that the complete honey supply chain is protected." Besides Intertek, Grant Thornton, one of World’s leading audit, tax and advisory firms, has been appointed by True Source Honey, LLC (TSH) for conducting Financial Audit for companies interested in applying for TSH certification in India. The Director, Grant Thornton India said, “The purpose of the Audit will be to determine that only honey of Indian origin is exported as “Product of India” to the United States.” “We are pleased to become the first True Source Honey (TSH) Certified entity in the World. As honey circumvention is a very hot topic across the World, this initiative was launched to ensure that the origin of the honey supplied is certified by third party auditors. We are proud to receive this certificate from True Source Honey, LLC” – said, Kejriwal, MD, Kejriwal Bee Care India (P) Ltd. Kejriwal in his speech expressed confidence that with a True source Certification, all doubts about quality would be put to rest. It would help reinstate confidence in the Indian Honey and validate the livelihood of the 2.5 lakh beekeepers and their families in India. “This certification will link us more effectively to the honey industry and the beekeepers community. It will also give our valued customers a great sense of trust and confidence.” For Kejriwal Group, he said, this is an incredible honor and a very special achievement, being in the food industry for the last 45 years, being the first organized honey exporter from India in 1995, and the first ISO 22000 accredited Honey Processor & Packer in India as well.
