The young start-up "P.O.S.C.A. - crafted by nature!" expands its product range and presents its new “Craft Juices” product line for the very first time at the Anuga Start-up area in Cologne.
“Since we only use the best ingredients for our Posca, and pay particular attention to the production processes in order to preserve the variety of flavours in particular, it was only natural to apply this ancient knowledge to other, regional 'superfruits'," says the founder Dr. Stefan Köstner.
Craft Juices from P.O.S.C.A. are unmixed, naturally cloudy, 100% not-from-concentrate juices from regional “super fruits”. They are harvested by hand and pressed with a high degree of craftsmanship so that the pure taste unfolds.
"I don't know whether it has to do with ingratitude or excess - but it seems that we tend to overlook the variety of our regional superfruits and prefer to import them from far away. Without wanting to boast, we could present a dozen different, single-variety apple juices at the fair with all their variety-specific characteristics - but at this product launch in Cologne we want to initially concentrate on Jonagold and Topaz with their own, specific characteristics," says the CEO of the young start-up. "Of course we are already very excited to hear customer feedback!”
The range of craft juices focuses on typically European, regional superfruits and, despite this conscious restriction, is very extensive. According to the saying “One P.O.S.C.A. a day keeps the doctor away”, the focus is on the apple. Single-origin juices from Jonagold and Topaz will be presented at the trade fair - but these could be supplemented at any time with the varieties Dalinette, Rubinette, Cox Orange or Pinova. The craft is in bringing out the distinct characteristics of each apple during the process.
The red-fleshed apple variety Baya Marisa is a special feature. The red color is actually caused by so-called anthocyanins, which are only found in the peel of other apple varieties. These dyes act as radical scavengers in our body and thus protect our cells. Therefore, red apple juices are actually healthier.
The single-variety range is currently supplemented with pears and of course grapes – both white and red. The latter in turn is said to contain more health-promoting, secondary additives.
